Baby's First Christmas and New Years

Celebrating Emmerson's first Christmas was magical. We were in North Carolina with family, and it was so special. Like anything, we took so many pictures, and I just wanted to have a place to put them.

We visited with my childhood best friend, Jenny, her husband and sweet boy, Henry, along with Jenny's dad (her mama wasn't feeling well that day), whom we love. It was so nice to catch up with them and introduce Emmerson to Henry!

Emme and I also met Angelique and Everly for coffee one morning. Everly was born exactly one week before Emmerson and Angelique is such a sweet first time mama, too. It was great to catch up with her!

Christmas Eve consisted of church, then appetizers for dinner (a new tradition) at mom and dad's. My sister's family came over and we read The Night Before Christmas to Emmerson. I had intended to read Polar Express, but baby girl was tired and I figured it was okay to skip it. We didn't leave cookies for Santa this year, but we surely will next year!

Christmas morning! We enjoyed coffee, mimosas, breakfast casserole and sugar cake and had such a leisurely morning. Emmerson napped through most of it, but eventually woke up to open a few of her presents. It was really sweet.

Christmas Day we had a huge, delicious meal and just spent time with family. It was a wonderful, wonderful day!

New Years Eve! We went to dinner then came back to ring in the new year in a low key way at home with my parents and sister's family. Emmerson had her first cold, so wasn't feeling 100%, poor thing. She did stay up to midnight, as did our nieces. What a year 2015 was. It's awesome to start a new year with her in our arms. Just so awesome.

It's hard to believe that over the holidays last year, we were in India. It's amazing to think of the journey she (and we) have made between then and now and we can't imagine life without her. 2015 will be hard to top, but here's to making 2016 the very best yet!
